Latino characters always have a special place in my heart, especially when it comes to video games. They represent our culture in the best way possible, and it always warms my heart to watch those characters develop into the best versions of themselves.
Some of these games include my personal favorites, such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Cyberpunk 2077. You can get these games on the PS5 through the PlayStation Store, but to download them as smoothly as possible, you need a formidable internet connection, such as Optimum internet. You can learn more about Optimum’s internet plans and pricing by contacting número de teléfono de Optimum.
Once you get your internet situation sorted out, here are some Latino video game characters that you should check out:
- Miles Morales (Spider-Man: Miles Morales & Spider-Man 2)
Miles was initially a playable character in his standalone title, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which is a relatively short game but has a lot of new mechanics to offer after the first Spider-Man game. It has an intrigante (intriguing) storyline, and Miles’ character development is off the charts. The game also throws in hints of Spanish to stay in touch with Miles’ Hispanic lineage, especially when he is talking to his mother.
Miles is one of my favorite characters of all time, not just in the game but in the Spider-Verse movies as well. So, he definitely earns a top spot in my list of iconic Hispanic characters.
- Rio Morales (Spider-Man: Miles Morales & Spider-Man 2)
Rio Morales is Miles’ mother, and she is the reason why Miles is Hispanic. The reason she made it to this list is that she is not only an iconic Hispanic video game character but is a very concerned and protectora (protective) mother as well. Ever since Miles’ father’s death, Rio was Miles’ only parent, and she didn’t compromise on her duties at all.
In fact, we get to see the protective side of Rio in Spider-Man 2 when, during an unfortunate turn of events, Miles is not in the picture, and she orders Peter to go and look for him since Miles looks up to Peter a lot. This goes to show what an amazing character Rio is and how she loves her son more than anything else in the world. The same is with Rio’s character in the Spider-Verse movies, where she always gives Miles the pep-talk that he needs. You’ll have to play the game and watch the movies to see for yourself.
- Manny Alvarez (The Last of Us Part II)
Yeah, I know, “What’s Manny doing on this list? I thought everyone hated him,” but if you look at it from Abby’s perspective, Manny was her pretty solid amigo (friend).
The reason Manny is an iconic character is that he made players absolutely despise him, which shows how great a role he played. This is kind of like King Joffrey from Game of Thrones, where the part was played so well that the audience started hating the actor!
Manny was with Abby through all the events of the game, and he made sure he wouldn’t let her down as she was out to avenge someone very close to her. That speaks a lot about friendship and how a true friend is willing to go through any lengths for you. So yes, Manny has definitely earned a spot on this list.
- Judy Alvarez (Cyberpunk 2077)
If you played the game as female V, then you know what I’m talking about. Judy was always true to the people close to her and would go through any lengths for them, through thick and thin. You can see how she was with Evelyn Parker and how much she cared for her till the end. This is enough to tell you how amazing she is as a character.
You can even see the depths of her character if you start a relationship chain with her. She is a very expresiva (expressive) individual, and you get to see a completely different side of her. Plus, she’s amazingly talented, which makes her character absolutely icónica (iconic).
- Jackie Welles (Cyberpunk 2077)
The character that you start the game with and the one that will always have a special place in your heart. I won’t spoil the game for you, but Jackie has a very iconic role to play in the life of V, regardless of whether you start the game off as a nomad, a corpo, or a street kid. The events in the prologue eventually lead you to Jackie, which means that you are supposed to meet him in any case.
In fact, if you follow the mission chain and meet Jackie’s mom, Mama Welles, you can also get Jackie’s bike as a reward (which was the vehicle I used throughout the game). Jackie was a very selfless individual who cared too much about the people around him.
These are some of the most iconic Latino characters in video games, and I feel like these games would have been incomplete without them. Latino culture, represent!
